Hemp History Week Event
Saturday, June 8, 2013
12:00pm until 10:00pm
267 Van Buren St. (just across the street from Ninkasi Brewery)

Join us for a celebration of America's rich history with Industrial Hemp before it was outlawed by the Federal Government in 1937. The goal of this all ages free event, is to educate the public about the benefits that it can provide, if we remove the barriers to Hemp farming in the United States and let our farmers grow this versatile and profitable crop once again.

We will be showcasing a wide range of Hemp products that are available and the nutritional as well as environmental benefits that they provide. There will be Hemp food, Hemp recipes, Organic Hemp body care products, Hemp clothing, and Hemp building materials for green living.

There will also be a kids zone, where they can color, paint, and learn about the History of Hemp.
A screening of the will be shown. DVD's will be available for purchase as well. Throughout the entire day, there will be live music, guest speakers, video presentations, a Hemp fashion show, and much more.

Free samples of hemp products will also be available for review and testing, from companies such as Living Harvest, Manitoba Harvest, Nature's Path, Dr. Bronner's Magic soaps, The Merry Hempsters, Navitas and Nutiva at the event.

Between 4:00 and 4:30 PM, there will be a free "Hemp Ice Cream Social" for everyone, (or until the Ice Cream runs out).

At 9:00 PM, there will be a drawing for a Brand New Toyoda. You must be in attendance to win. No purchase necessary.

The return of industrial hemp to the landscape of American agriculture is an imperative environmental and ecological issue. Hemp can be used to make paper, clothing, biofuels, biodegradable plastics, automobile parts, building materials and much more. Hemp crops also improve the quality of
the soil in which they are grown, leaving behind precious nutrients. Furthermore, hemp is not genetically modified and requires little to no pesticides or herbicides, thereby preventing unnecessary pollutants from entering our waterways via agricultural runoff.

Hemp History Week, June 3 - 9, 2013, is an industry-wide initiative of the Hemp Industries Association (HIA) and Vote Hemp. The Hemp Industries Association (HIA) is a non-profit trade group representing hemp companies, researchers, farmers and supporters. Vote Hemp is a national, single-issue, non-profit advocacy group founded in 2000 by members of the hemp industry to remove barriers to industrial hemp farming in the U.S. through education, legislation and advocacy.
